AMENITIES
Our philosophy on amenities is to make sure we provide everything essential to enhance the Poplar Run living environment for the majority of residents, and to balance needs and wants in a sensible way to maintain value. Providing every amenity under the sun, as many communities try to do, simply drives up the cost for everyone. Many only appeal to a few, and go unused a vast portion of the time.
What you'll find here is a slate of amenities that add value and create a more comfortable and enjoyable living environment for our Poplar Run residents. Everything provided is available to all residents, whether you're living in the main apartment complex, or out along Cottage Drive.
DINING ROOM
Refined, elegant, inviting. Just three of the many words used to describe the main dining room at Poplar Run. The superlatives flow even more abundantly after tasting the restaurant-quality meals served every day. "Every Day" is a phrase of key importance, because unlike many retirement communities that limit meals, Poplar Run residents are provided with a meal in the dining room every day. Lunch or dinner your choice. And no, you don't need to make a reservation in advance! Take a good look around. You won't see a stuffy "dress-code" either...

SIDEWALK CAFÉ
Sometimes you just feel like a slice of pizza will "hit the spot" better than a full meal. That's exactly what the Sidewalk Café is for. It's open in the mornings for complimentary coffee and between the hours of 10am and 2pm for light fare, entrees and snacks. Perfect for when the "munchies" hit or for lunch when you're planning on eating dinner in the main dining room. The prices can't be beat, either! If you'd prefer, you can even exchange your daily meal privilege from the dining room and use it in the Café instead.

RECEPTION AREA
The heart of the apartment complex. At the main reception desk you'll pick up prescriptions, UPS© and FedEx© packages and submit any maintenance requests. Residents also visit the reception desk to request transportation to medical appointments. Located in a closet nearby are the carts used to help make it easier to bring in groceries from those Tuesday morning runs to "Dutch-Way." Residents can even be found here lending a helping hand over the lunch hour by tending to the main switchboard. All visitors are required to sign in with the receptionist.

TRANSPORTATION
The StoneRidge Retirement Living vehicle fleet never sits idle for long. Our buses transport residents to shopping, area churches, activities, trips and more... If your doctor is located within 20 miles of Myerstown, we'll take you to your appointments at no additional cost. On Tuesday mornings our buses circle continuously between Poplar Run and Dutch-Way, the local grocery store, for the convenience of our residents. Just hop on and go!
LIBRARY
Run by a committee of residents, the Poplar Run library is where you'll find all the latest best sellers, current periodicals, a substantial large-print book collection and local and national newspapers. There's even an Internet terminal for those who want to "Google" or send email to friends. Best of all, there's never any late fees on the books you borrow...

GIFT SHOP
Located in the main apartment complex lobby and run by residents for residents, the Gift Shop is a great place to pick up a greeting card, candy bar, or stuffed animal for that special visitor coming by.
CRAFT ROOM
From puzzles to quilts to various crafting demonstrations, the Poplar Run Craft Room is a real hub of activity. It's also where the U.S. Postal Service mailboxes for each residence (apartments and cottages) are housed, as well as in-house mail. The Craft Room also boasts a full-size kitchen for resident use on those occasions when you want to make a BIG meal and need more space to work.

WOODSHOP
There's nothing like the smell of freshly sawn lumber, especially gripped firmly in the hands of a master with a lifetime of experience. Our fully outfitted woodshop garners kudos from everyone who steps foot inside. And we've got a workbench waiting just for you. The possibilities are endless, and it's all here to use. There's even a spray room for the lacquer finish on that toy box you've just finished for your new grandson... Hey, we'll be honest some guys don't even work on wood, they just come here to hang out and enjoy the camaraderie!

ART STUDIO
From seascapes to stills to scenes of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, the artwork produced in our studio is amazing; the artistic talent at Poplar Run is considerable. We've dedicated a special room in the apartment complex for the use of both accomplished and aspiring artists who want to express themselves. And for those who think you "can't paint," you'll be amazed at what you can do with a little guidance and support from one of our masters. At the very least, you'll make a new friend or two.
MUSIC ROOM
You don't need to join the Poplar Run choir just to use the music room. Outfitted with a piano, organ and large-screen TV, the Music Room is the place to practice your Chopin, or sit back and laugh at Chaplin. Classic movies are shown every Saturday night. The room is also used for Bible studies, book reviews and more. A great place to hang out alone or with friends.
BANKING SERVICES
Imagine having a bank right in your home... Even better, how 'bout a branch manager who will sit with you for as long as it takes to help you balance your checkbook. Banking services are available at a mini office of PNC Bank, located right down the hallway from the dining room in the main apartment complex. There are also frequent interest rate specials and product offers available just to Poplar Run residents.
REC ROOM
Of course there's the pool table and hardwood floor in the rear, but the Rec Room is used for much more than that. There's bingo, sing-a-longs, hymn-signs, parties and Resident Association meetings just to name a few... It can also be reserved for family gatherings and reunions. Catering by the Poplar Run food service department is available for a fee.
On Sundays the Rec Room is converted into a chapel for the 4:30pm Vesper Service. The Poplar Run choir performs at vespers once-a-month.

CHAPLAIN SERVICES
The Poplar Run chaplain, an ordained Evangelical Congregational Church pastor, is available to serve the spiritual needs of all residents. Our chaplain leads weekly Bible studies and the Sunday afternoon Vesper Service in the Poplar Run chapel. Always available for spiritual guidance, a comforting hug, a listening ear and encouraging words, our chaplain is a special and trusted friend of our residents.
LANDSCAPING
First-time visitors to Poplar Run are simply amazed at the well maintained and manicured landscaping. And it's there to be enjoyed! Take advantage or our walking/biking paths and the series of convenient gazebos along the way when a rest is needed. Stroll out to the Memorial Garden with a good book and bask in the beauty of the shrubbery-lined pathway. We even encourage those residents with a "green thumb" to get involved and give their special touches to the landscape beds too!
The main patio is used all summer long for cookouts, special music and activities.

GARDEN PLOTS
There's no need to give up the joy of growing the reddest, juiciest tomatoes in the county just because you've moved to a retirement community. Maybe sunflowers are your thing; or rhubarb... Just ask us for your very own garden plot and you can continue to produce nature's bounty.
